2/1 post

The book I am reading this week is called "The Selfish Gene", written by Richard Dawkins. This book was first written in 1970s, and achieved many rewards that celebrate its contribution on spreading common basic scientific ideas.

40 years later, this book got its attention back because of its appearance on one of the most watched show in 2019, "SKY CASTLE". After this book was mentioned in the show, this book soon got back to best selling science book list.

My goal was to finish this book by end of this week. Although I still have 2 days left, I can say now that I have failed my goal this week.

There are few factors why I failed.

First, retreat was on this week. Although I brought the book to retreat, but it was hard to read a book around 20 middle school kids. I spent 3 days of this week on retreat and read 8 pages during it.

Second, I started feeling obsession of solving rubric cube. We started a project on rubric cube in Pre-calculus class and it was very interesting to me.

To analyze the situation, despite of all the excuses I have, this week wasn't successful. I spent self study periods on reading, but I only spent self study periods on reading. But I believe that it is too early to tell that the goal itself is too harsh. Especially, since there is national holly day coming, I believe that I will be able to make up.
