1/25 Post

Welcome to my first blog post!

This blog is a review blog for my 20 percent project in our English class.

As a kid, reading was a big part of my life. It wasn't like that from the beginning. When I was about 6 years old, I was taught how to read in the kindergarten. As soon as I learned how to read, my mom made a new rule in our house. "One book per day" rule started from that day. I was encouraged (most likely forced) to read a book everyday before I go to bed. At first, it was painful. Although I was only required to read books that were on my level, 30 minute that I took to read felt like 3 hours. I would cry and beg her to excuse me from reading only that day for everyday. After a while, new duty got easier. In other words, it became a habit. Rather than picking the shortest book, I started picking a book that interested me. My reading skill got better, and I started reading harder books for longer time.

But whole thing changed when I reached 14. Computer game that I was introduced by my friend was a whole different world. From there, I started playing computer games, and reading felt apart from my life.

One of my mom's favorite sentence is, "My son used to read all day. Now he is too busy doing other things to read." This is true. I still read, but I read when I don't have my phone, computer, friend, and TV.

So I decided to change through this project. By forcing myself to read by this project, I am expecting my reading habit to come back.

Although Ms.Yoon said one book a week can be a tough challenge, I haven't changed my thought. I will try to read a book a week.

As I finish this blog post, I would like to ask my readers something. Feel free to recommand me your favorite book or book that I should read.

Thank you!
